not only that but it also has a way smoother powerband. Now instead of it having all the power at 3K it has like 60% of the power at 3K

But the peakiness of the Alfa engine is one of its joys.
While I love how tractable the modern powerplants are today, I appreciate the skill that used to be required to drive the older cars quickly and smoothly.
My old Alfa (Spica mechanical, which should really get its own post, if one has not been done) was Honda Civic gutless below 3k. But it woke up at 3500RPM and 4000-5500RPM was just THE BALLS. 4th gear 70-90mph I opened the eyes of more than one Pony car back in my wild wreckless days.

mine is the same way expect it starts to wake up at 2000 and keeps on giving. I haven't taken mine past 4k though even though i know the engine is more than capable of taking it, 80MPH in 5th is fast enough for me (and the state of Virginia)

I told one of my friends that the 4 cyl Alfa engine at 5k sounds like the world's greatest chainsaw. Rev that thing dude! What is stopping you?

i can't think of anything so i'll just make a racing driver's excuse "the sparkplug gap is not ideal for the load on the engine above 4k RPM"
